Oops

[linkstandalone] I accidentally wiped the VPS this site and my email server runs on. Luckily, I happened to have a backup of the site on my laptop bc of the recent work I've been doing. My emails are stored locally on my computers and phone, so I can always reupload those to the server if I really wanted to, not sure that I will though. Thu, 30 Dec 2021 17:22:36 +0000

Website Redesign

[linkstandalone] I really like the design of the site as it is at the moment. However, I feel that the pages themselves are really spread out and mostly empty. I'll be making visual changes so things are more compact. Expect a new mode of navigating the site, as well as many bugfixes that I've just been ignoring until now (namely, the size variation of page titles). Tue, 16 Nov 2021 18:51:33 -0500

RSS - Really Simple Syndication

[linkstandalone] I finally set up a RSS feed for this. I'm fully aware that this isn't particularly useful since I only post once every four or five months, but I plan on using this more (like actually this time). I plan on doing things that are actually worth reading, like in depth posts on technology, psychology, life. Could be interesting. I really don't know why it took me over a year to set up RSS though. I literally just had to make a file with like four short lines in it. A task that's just too much for my smooth brain ig idk. Also, this is unrelated to RSS, but I've noticed that when I revise a post the timestamp is updated. I made some revisions on my previous post and now it shows as being posted today, even though I made that post in June or July. Not particularly important, just odd ig. My Car is Falling Apart

[linkstandalone] Nothing really unexpected tbh. I did get rid of the loud rattling noise that it does sometimes. I didn't really fix it though, I just tied up the exhaust with a radiator clamp. It'll at least make the muffler and the exhaust more in line with each other. I was gonna fix it with epoxy, but I would've had to remove the muffler in order for everything to line up properly. Unfortunately, the bolts holding the muffler to this broken piece were rusted pretty badly. I might try again later. Ofc now I'm having to deal with another noise, a hum whose pitch varies depending on my speed, which I'm pretty sure is coming from the rear of the car. (Future me here, this is actually the front right wheel bearing.) That, plus the fact that the transmission is leaking oil (albeit, not terribly quickly (this was actually probably because I might've overfilled it when I changed the fluid)), really highlights that this car is beyond help at this point. Maybe I can just help it last a little bit longer, and use it as a sort of sandbox for learning. I really just need to go car shopping, but tbh I'm not really even sure where to start. I know I want a Corolla. That's really it. If I get a brand new one from Toyota, I'll need to keep saving for another year or so, which I don't think I have that long. Plus if there's anything wrong with the 2021 model, I won't know. Probably would be best to get a car that's got a few years on it. I just don't trust the people before me to have actually taken care of their car, people tend to be kinda stupid. Thu, 11 Nov 2021 16:39:20 -0500

Touch Typing

[linkstandalone] So it's been a while since I said I'd do it, but now I'm actually trying it. Gtypist is p neat. Not really much to say. I've done some remapping to my keyboard. Confusing as hell but it works. Pressing caps lock will now act as escape, while holding it makes it act as another backspace key. Pressing shift as a single backspace, and holding it or pressing it with another key will make it act its normal function. This ended up sucking really bad, so I'll think of something else. I've been considering replacing either the left alt key or the right super key. As for my keyboard layout, I've decided to stick with Qwerty. Dvorak would interfere with all of my vim bindings and it'd just be a big pain to remap all of that. It's been a while since I've posted on here, but I'm planning on being more regular with posts. Maybe I'll actually put my rants on here or something. Fri, 15 Jan 2021 03:57:29 -0500
